RA Acting Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Fukushima Masanori.

Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, Acting Minister Vahram Dumanyan expressed confidence that Fukushima Masanori will contribute with his activities to the strengthening and further development of Armenian-Japanese relations. The ESCS Acting Minister noted that Armenia attaches importance to the deepening of relations with Japan, and the scope of coordination of the Ministry provides an opportunity to enrich the bilateral agenda.

“At present, the priority for us is to implement reforms and programs of strategic importance in the fields of coordination of the Ministry, in the direction of which active steps are being taken. I am confident that close cooperation with Japan and the exchange of experience will contribute to advancing the efficiency of these programs,” noted the Acting Minister and thanked the Japanese side for its consistent support.

Vahram Dumanyan emphasized Japan's extensive experience in the field of science and information technology and suggested considering the possibility of cooperation in this direction. Regarding the importance of strengthening the ties between the youth of the two countries, the ESCS Acting Minister noted that joint programs in the fields of higher education, sports, and culture can also contribute to this. According to the Acting Minister, there is a great potential for cooperation in these fields.

Thankful for the reception, Ambassador Fukushima Masanori assured that he would make every effort to deepen bilateral relations. The diplomat expressed confidence that despite the difficulties caused by the war and the coronavirus pandemic, Armenia will follow the path of development, and Japan is ready to assist the friendly country.

ESCS Acting Minister Vahram Dumanyan and Ambassador Fukushima Masanori also considered other issues of mutual interest and reached an agreement on the transition to practical steps.
