RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan received today the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Fan Yong. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan.

Greeting the diplomat’s visit to the ESCS Ministry, Minister Vahram Dumanyan congratulated on his appointment and wished him fruitful work for the benefit of Armenian-Chinese relations. The ESCS Minister underlined the importance of joint programs and expressed his willingness to consistently enlarge them: “Taking into account the hardships caused by the coronavirus and the post-war period, the opportunity for Armenian citizens to receive higher and postgraduate education in the best universities in China within the framework of the interstate program is now even more highlighted. In regard to the professional demand and priorities, the training of corresponding specialists is important for the development of the Armenian economy. The Confucius Institute at Brusov State University and the Armenian-Chinese Friendship School are a remarkable manifestation of the efficient collaboration between our countries, which is an excellent practice of establishing such institutions within the framework of interstate cooperation.”

Thankful for the reception and kind words, Ambassador Fan Yong assured that he would make every effort to further develop the bilateral relations.

“The Armenian-Chinese relations are based on stable and mutual development. Our countries are bound by a century-old history. I am ready to cooperate and I am sure that I will receive your support,” said the Ambassador noting that there are all necessary preconditions for expanding joint programs.

The parties also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of sport. Minister Vahram Dumanyan suggested considering the possibility of establishing an Armenian-Chinese friendship sports complex in Armenia, as well as implementing exchange programs for athletes and coaches, to which the Chinese Ambassador responded positively, noting that he is open to detailed discussions.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views regarding the post-war situation in Artsakh and the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan. Ambassador Fan Yong noted that China supports the reinstatement of security, stability and peaceful cooperation in the region.
