The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan received today the delegation headed by the President of the American University of Armenia Karin Markides. The meeting was also attended by the ESCS Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan.

The agenda included issues related to the programs implemented in cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the American University in Armenia, further activities and upcoming projects.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Vahram Dumanyan highlighted the importance of the University's activities in Armenia, which, according to the Minister, creates human capital in accordance with the needs of the labor market and contributes to the development of the country's economy.

“I especially emphasize our cooperation in the context of Armenian technological research and development. We attach great importance to innovations in artificial intelligence. This topic is also regularly discussed with the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry.” noted the Minister.

President of the American University in Armenia Karin Markides thanked for the reception and noted that they are implementing various programs to find priorities for the country thus supporting the Government. She also emphasized the development of artificial intelligence.

Minister V. Dumanyan and the University President Karin Markides also referred to the draft law on “Higher Education and Science”, noting the importance of the University's response to it.

Issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
