On October 21, 2020, a regular meeting of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Education was held for the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. It was unanimously adopted that the chairmanship of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Education of the CIS member states in 2021 will be transferred to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia. The RA ESCS Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan was elected as the chairman.

The meeting presented and discussed the work carried out within the framework of cooperation in the field of education of the CIS member states. A. Martirosyan noted that education is the foremost economic resource of each state, and interstate cooperation in this field contributes to the development of the countries' economies. According to him, the cooperation smooths out possible political and economic conflicts between the countries, as well as outlines new trends in the development of cooperation.

Note that in 2024 Armenia will host the 8th Congress of Teachers and Education Workers of the CIS member states.
