The exemplary curricula for the 2020-2021 academic year have been approved by the Decree of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports for the educational institutions implementing basic general; specialized and special state educational programs.

The curriculum defines the structure of the content of secondary education, the weekly hours allocated to general education subjects according to the components (state and school), the normative volume of the general education curriculum, the maximum amount of weekly educational load of students according to the grades.

As stated by the Decree, the classes will start on September 14, 2020, end on June 4, 2021, providing at least 30 academic weeks for the first, 32 for the second and 34 weeks for grades 3-12. A 6-day workweek is established in all general educational institutions.

The education of children with special educational needs in educational institutions is organized based on the curriculum approved by the above-mentioned Decree, and for each student, as necessary, an individualized education plan (IEP) is developed.

The grading scale for pupils of 2-12 grade is 10 points. To other assessment scales used during knowledge tests, final and state final examinations of basic and secondary education are given 10 or 20 points. There is no current or final grading for first-graders: The current assessment is done through characterization. The lesson duration is 45 minutes.
