RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Venice Gagik Sarukhanyan.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Ara Khzmalyan and Head of the Department for Cultural Heritage and Folk Crafts Astghik Marabyan.

Welcoming those present, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan touched upon Armenia's participation in the 59th Venice International Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2022, where the “Gharib” project by Armenian artist and composer Andrius Arutiunian was presented.

“The purpose of our meeting is to express our gratitude and say words of appreciation for your important activities. Your contribution was significant in Armenia's high-level participation in the 59th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art and the organization of the national pavilion of international significance. I am extremely happy with this important cooperation aimed at popularizing and disseminating Armenia and Armenian culture,” noted the Minister and expressed confidence that the upcoming cooperation will be equally favorable and efficient.

ESCS Deputy Minister Ara Khzmalyan also thanked Gagik Sarukhanyan, highlighting the key role of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Venice to ensure high political participation in the 59th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art.

Gagik Sarukhanyan expressed gratitude for the appreciation and noted that Armenia is an ancient cradle of culture, and it is a great honor for him to serve the country with his activities.

During the meeting, Zhanna Andreasyan awarded the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Venice Gagik Sarukhanyan with the Medal of the RA Ministry of ESCS for ensuring Armenia's high-level participation in the 59th Venice International Biennale of Contemporary Art and for his role in organizing the Armenian pavilion.
