Today at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia Fukushima Masanori and the President of the “Armavir Development Center” NGO Naira Arakelyan signed a grant agreement for the “Renovation Program of the Kindergarten № 5 of Armavir Municipality.”

The objective of the project is not only to renovate the kindergarten building but also to install a central heating system for the organization of safe preschool education, as a result of which about 190 children will benefit from the program annually.

ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan delivered a welcoming speech at the event. Expressing gratitude to the Government of Japan for the continuing assistance to the education sector of Armenia, the Deputy Minister noted that the improved environment will contribute to the efficient organization of preschool education.

“In the “RA Education Development State Program until 2030” adopted last year, a particular emphasis is placed to the expansion and advancement of preschool education.

Our goal is to have full coverage of the preschool system by 2030, as a result of which all children will be included in preschool educational programs for at least one year before starting school. This state approach not only has a social component but is also important in the sense that increasing the enrollment of children will significantly contribute to enhancing educational outcomes and the overall learning process.

In this regard, we attach importance to the fact that the projects implemented with the support of international partners and friendly countries are fully in tune with the educational, youth and cultural policy implemented by the Republic of Armenia,” said Arthur Martirosyan.

The ESCS Deputy Minister noted that the Armenian-Japanese relations are comprehensive and are also manifested in the dialogue in cultural, scientific, educational, humanitarian and other sectors.

Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, Fukushima Masanori, welcomed in Armenian those present, as a sign of Armenian-Japanese friendship. The Ambassador underlined that by signing the grant agreement, favorable and safe conditions will be created for the children of Armavir, which will contribute to improving the educational process.

“The Government of Japan emphasizes the role of education and is sure that the new generation has great potential, and in this case, the best conditions should be created for them. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to all the parties involved in this project and wish success in its implementation,” noted the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia.

Chairman of the “Armavir Development Center” NGO Naira Arakelyan thanked the Government of Japan and the ESCS Ministry for the assistance programs, noting that the “Armavir Development Center” NGO and the Government of Japan have been cooperating since 2010.

As a result of the cooperation, the music school of the Armavir rural community of the Armavir region has already been renovated, and thanks to the new grant program, the children of Armavir will have another renovated kindergarten.

Note that the grant project is being implemented within the framework of the “Grassroots Human Security” Program.
