Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Karen Giloyan received today the Secretary-General of the Serbian Chess Federation Andrija Jorgic.

The Serbian delegation included the President of the Armenian National Community of Serbia Biljana Obradovic, Secretary-General of the Serbian Chess Federation Andrija Jorgic, the editor of "BORBA" magazine Ljiljana Stojanovic and the project manager of the Center for Strategic Analysis Darco Obradovic.

Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and Diaspora of the MoESCS Arkady Papoyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, ESCS Deputy Minister Karen Giloyan expressed willingness to advance the Armenian-Serbian sports relations within the scope of his authorization.

Thankful for the reception, Secretary-General of the Serbian Chess Federation Andrija Jorgic noted that it is his first visit to Armenia and is greatly impressed and that he has arrived in our country with a special mission: “We know that chess is taught at schools in Armenia, and we would like to implement this experience in our country as well. Armenia is a country with a great chess history and traditions, and we will be very happy to cooperate with you. My mission is to study the methodology of teaching chess in Armenia and try to apply this experience in Serbia as well.”

Stating that we are ready to share our experience with friends, Karen Giloyan noted: “The teaching of chess in secondary schools has indeed had a positive impact on the popularization of this sport. We can give your specialists the opportunity to get training here and study our experience. We can also provide specialists to conduct master classes in Serbia.”

The project manager of the Center for Strategic Analysis Darco Obradovic and other guests also highlighted the need to enhance the Armenian-Serbian relations to a new level and create cultural, sports and educational bridges between the two countries.

It should be added that today the Secretary-General of the Serbian Chess Federation will visit the Chess Academy of Armenia and have a meeting with the Founder-Chairman of the Academy Smbat Lputyan.
