RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan visited Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography.

The Minister held a meeting with the Board Members of the University, the teaching staff, representatives of the administrative board, and the Student Council. Acting Rector Lilit Arzumanyan presented the current activities of the Institute, referring to the main issues of the educational process. She thanked the Minister for the initiative of addressing the issues on the spot.

ESCS Minister Vahram Dumanyan noted the importance of improving the quality of university education, especially emphasizing academic art education.

“In the field of higher education, the primary task is to improve the governance efficiency Today there are more than 5 dozen higher education institutions in Armenia, which has a population of only 3 million people. This is really too much for our country, and the issue of the education quality derives from this, the advancement of which is the primary concern for all of us,” stated the Minister, as an example, noting that in neighboring Iran, where the population exceeds 80 million people, the number of universities is a little more than 4 dozen.

According to the Minister, the State, in the face of the Ministry, cannot interfere in the content of the art education issues, and professional programs, but the State must define quality criteria for education, consistently calling for quality improvement.

The participants of the meeting presented their observations and considerations on the organization of education, addressing questions to the Minister. Issues and suggestions related to the development of the Institute and further management activities were also raised.

During the meeting, issues related to the development and further activities of the Institute were considered. Vahram Dumanyan answered the questions of the lecturers and students present at the meeting.
