RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan held a video conference with the Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Ali Zolfigol today.

Welcoming his Iranian counterpart, Vahram Dumanyan expressed hope that the upcoming meeting of the two ministers will already be held face to face. The Minister noted that in two days it marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and this is a good reason to bring the existing cooperation to a higher level.

“It is nice to have an advanced and close relationship with a friendly and brotherly neighbor. I am familiar with the achievements of Iranian students, in particular, with their success at world competitions in the field of IT programming. In this regard, I attach importance to the collaboration with students of Iran and suggest considering the possibility of cooperation between student teams within the framework of the prestigious International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC). We also highly appreciate the achievements of Iranian scientists and attach importance to the possibility of cooperation with the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences, as well as the establishment of new ties in the field of Mathematics and Chemistry,” noted Vahram Dumanyan, proposing to promote cooperation at the school level in the frame of holding joint summer camps and language teaching activities.

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Ali Zolfigol expressed his gratitude for the scientific, social and cultural cooperation between the two countries. He noted that 44 high-ranking universities, many technology parks, and high-tech companies operate in Iran. According to the IRI Minister, the lecturers and scientists of Iranian universities can cooperate with Armenian universities in various fields, and expressed willingness to use the scientific and human potential of Armenia.

“We extend a friendly hand to Armenia and are ready for close cooperation in the field of science and technology, to mutually use the potential of innovation by implementing all the constructive proposals,” stated Mohammad Ali Zolfigol.

The parties also discussed issues of the creation of joint technology parks and the training of relevant specialists, the mobility of students of the two countries, the mutual recognition of diplomas, and the organization of mutual visits.
