RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arthur Martirosyan received today Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Anne Louyot.

During the meeting, the sides touched upon the expansion of Armenian-French cooperation aimed at the development of the Armenian education system, including the advancement of French language teaching at various levels of education. The Deputy Minister noted that since joining the International Organization of La Francophonie, comprehensive educational programs have been implemented in our country, and this meeting is another occasion to discuss the potential for expanding cooperation and outline development perspectives.

Ambassador Anne Louyot, in turn, emphasized the need to expand and enhance the agenda of bilateral and multi-level cooperation. She referred to the program of organizing advanced French language teaching in the secondary schools of Armenia, which, according to the Ambassador, will contribute to the advancement of the French language in Armenia, and increase the efficiency of teaching French in secondary schools. As a successful example, the Ambassador underlined the possibility of sharing the experience of teaching French in school №119 of Yerevan to other institutions.

At the meeting, the parties also touched upon the organization of the assessment of French language teaching activities, which will identify current problems and outline practical steps to improving the process. In the scope of organizing French language teacher training, Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan suggested considering the possibility of cooperation with the National Center for Education Development and Innovation.

The parties also touched upon the collaboration in the development of educational programs of primary and secondary vocational institutions of Armenia. Welcoming the individual activities carried out in this direction, Arthur Martirosyan stressed the implementation of such initiatives in a bilateral format at a stage when, in the context of the development of education-labor market communication, the introduction of new specialties in vocational educational institutions, the transformation of educational programs, in particular, the implementation of dual or work-based educational programs, attaching importance to the French experience both in agriculture and in other sectors of vocational education, is a priority.

The parties considered issues related to the activities of the French University in Armenia as a university implementing education-research investment programs. The parties highlighted the importance of developing the activities of this university in our country, including through the development of the research component.

During the meeting, a reference was made to the issues of advancing the cooperation and expanding the programs implemented in the fields under the coordination of the ESCS Ministry within the framework of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
