The RA Government and the UN World Food Program will provide food packages to about 100,000 primary school children. This is due to the fact that school kitchens and canteens remain closed because of the coronavirus.

In cooperation with the RA Government, the World Food Program has reorganized the "School Feeding" program so that children can receive daily nutritious food at home until the reopening of the school kitchens and canteens and the resumption of catering.

The WFP will provide healthy food packages to about 50,000 primary school children throughout Armenia as part of the “School Feeding program funded by the Russian Federation. As part of the gradual nationalization program, the RA Government will simultaneously provide assistance to about 50,000 additional schoolchildren.

The RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the WFP provide school children with food packages during the first semester of the 2020/21 academic year.

This one-time distribution is aimed at helping families meet their children's nutritional needs for 80 days. The food packages provided by the RA Government and the WFP contain the following food: buckwheat, lentils, pasta, rice, oil and wheat flour.

The beneficiaries of the program are the schoolchildren of grades 1-4 of all marzes of the Republic of Armenia, except Yerevan. Packages will be provided till the end of the year.
