With the support and funding of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, a gala concert marking the 20th anniversary of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra was held at the Grand Hall of Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, featuring world-renowned pianist Lang Lang as a special guest.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, other officials and art enthusiasts attended the concert.
This is Lang Lang’s first visit to Armenia. The renowned musician performed Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The concert was conducted by Sergey Smbatyan. In the second part of the anniversary concert, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra presented selections from its most popular projects, featuring performances by renowned Armenian artists.
The event marked another significant step in advancing the cultural policy of the ESCS Ministry and in revitalizing concert life through the participation of leading international artists. The Government allocated 106 million AMD for the organization of the concert.
In 2009, Time magazine named Lang Lang one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He is also the founder of the “Lang Lang” International Music Foundation, which aims to discover young talents and advance music education.
The orchestra’s 20th anniversary concert season, launched back in September, features a diverse program of notable projects and large-scale concerts in Yerevan, the regions, and abroad.
