In collaboration with the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the British Council Armenia Office is organizing the “Teaching for Success” conference aimed at the professional development of English language teachers, which this year has the theme “Quality Teaching for Quality Learning: Evidence, Innovation and Impact.”

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia Alexandra Cole attended the opening ceremony.

The conference aims to provide a platform for discussing current trends and effective practices in English language teaching, to foster professional collaboration and the experience exchange among educators, and to introduce practical approaches that support teachers’ continuous professional development. Around 1,200 English language specialists from schools and universities have registered to participate in the conference.

Welcoming the participants of the conference, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that the number of teachers proves that the teaching community is the most active learning community.

“Such platforms are important, however it is more essential that they are not limited to a single event, but rather become platforms that transform the teaching process. I am confident that you will leave the conference with insights and tools that will genuinely transform your daily practice and enrich your professional experience,” Zhanna Andreasyan noted.

She placed special emphasis on the collaboration with the British Council aimed at systemic changes, the pioneers of which are English teachers. At this point, she highlighted the significance of teachers’ active engagement and of moving forward together along the challenging path of reform.

The Minister also underscored the significance of the conference in terms of addressing the challenges facing the education system and the teaching process, discussing anticipated changes and existing issues, engaging in open dialogue about problems, learning from each other, and collectively identifying efficient solutions.

Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her gratitude to the participating teachers and to the British Council for their continued cooperation wishing the conference a productive and successful course.

The conference format features plenary sessions with the participation of Jeremy Harmer, an expert invited from the United Kingdom and a leading professional in the field of English language teaching methodology, who is the author of numerous professional books. Practical reports by local teachers, workshops, and speeches in the “ELT-Voice” format are also planned, during which teachers will share their success stories.
