The new theatre season has officially begun with the opening of the new building of Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin Academic Theatre.

The premiere of the play “Penelope, Oh, Penelope” took place today, staged in cooperation with the RA ESCS Ministry, Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin Academic Theatre, and A. P. Chekhov International Theatre Festival.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, and Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan attended the premiere. The leading role in the performance “Penelope, Oh, Penelope” is played by Narine Grigoryan, Artistic Director of Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin Academic Theatre.

Playwright, director and set designer: Simon Abgarian (France), musical design: Tatiana Burdel (Russia), music: “Vanakan” rock band, costume designer: Tamara Baroyan, lighting designer: Zaruhi Tarkhanyan, make-up artist: Anush Baroyan.

Simon Abgaryan’s play “Penelope, Oh, Penelope” offers a fresh interpretation of the story of Penelope, the wife of Odysseus and one of the central figures in Odyssey.
