The presentation of the EU TUMO Convergence Centre for Engineering and Applied Sciences (EUCC) was held at the TUMO Center. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, government representatives, ambassadors, and other officials attended the event.
The EU TUMO Convergence Centre for Engineering and Applied Sciences is being built near the Hrazdan Gorge in Yerevan, in the immediate vicinity of the existing TUMO Center. The building, which covers a total area of 18,000 m², was designed by the world-renowned MVRDV architectural firm. The complex will include Tumo labs with educational, engineering and incubation programs, research and applied laboratories, co-working and co-financing platforms, a conference centre and business spaces.
The project is being implemented as part of the Government's reforms to advance technological education in Armenia. The project’s total cost amounts to €42.5 million, of which €12.5 million is a grant from the EU to the “Simonyan” Educational Foundation under the “EU4Innovation” program, established through an agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union. The construction of the EUCC will contribute to raising Armenia's reputation as a technological and engineering center. As a result, as stated by the project’s organizers, a unique STEM hub will be established in the region, creating new opportunities for investment and business collaboration while providing education and experience aligned with global standards.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech, expressing his gratitude to those involved in implementing the project: EU partners, the Tumo Center, and the author of the project. He emphasized that in the Republic of Armenia, a good life is accessible to everyone who is willing and able to pursue education, regardless of age.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the significance of the initiative, which, she noted, will introduce a new culture of knowledge commercialization and strengthen the chain between education and the economy.
“The commercialization of knowledge and the strengthening of ties with the economy are among the priority objectives of the Science Development Strategy for 2026–2030. We have no shortage of talented young people, and environments like this give them the opportunity to present their ideas to private-sector representatives and turn them into reality by joining efforts. Such programs also serve as the foundation for the introduction of institutional mechanisms. Technological education is becoming the face of Armenian education and how we present ourselves to the world,” Zhanna Andreasyan stated.
She added that Tumo creates an environment where children are given the opportunity to live differently – creatively, innovatively and with a broad perspective.
Zhanna Andreasyan reflected on Armenia's achievements in IT education on various international platforms, which are interesting, visible, and competitive in different countries of the world and on international platforms.
EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos also highlighted the initiative and expressed gratitude for the cooperation.
Throughout their activities, Tumo Labs have provided innovative education to thousands of beneficiaries and implemented over 55 projects with local and international companies, establishing an active environment for knowledge transfer and technological product development.
