Today, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan chaired the regular meeting of the interdepartmental commission for the organization and holding of major international sports tournaments planned in Armenia in 2026: the main issues in organizing and holding the European Shooting Championship were discussed.

ESCS Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan, Secretary General of the Ministry Hasmik Hakobyan, Secretary General of the Shooting Federation of Armenia Areg Saribekyan, as well as representatives of a number of state and sports structures attended the session.

The European Senior Shooting Championship will be held from February 27 to March 5 at the K. Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. Around 400 athletes and coaches from over 40 countries have already applied to participate in the tournament. The final application list will be verified in the coming days. Seventy sets of medals will be awarded in the championship.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan observed that, despite the Government’s significant experience in hosting major international sports tournaments in recent years, particular attention is required to address the specifics of the shooting sport. The Minister highlighted the significance of joint and coordinated efforts by all involved structures to ensure the smooth organization of the tournament and the proper handling of security issues.

The meeting addressed issues concerning the importation of sports equipment for the championship, the proper outfitting of the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, and the provision of necessary infrastructure. Reference was also made to the selection of the championship logo, the involvement of volunteers, the creation of fan zones for fans in central parts of the city, the installation of a countdown clock, ensuring the broadcasting of competitions, as well as the organization of ticket sales.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan thanked the partner organizations for their effective collaboration, emphasizing that interdepartmental coordination and adherence to deadlines are key to the successful organization of large-scale competitions.

The interdepartmental commission includes representatives of the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Health, the Civil Aviation Committee, the Yerevan Municipality, the Public Television Company, as well as a number of other structures.
