The official opening ceremony of the new building of Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin State Theatre was held in Yerevan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, visited the new theatre building, toured the facilities, and viewed the newly created conditions.

The construction of the new theatre building, designed by Isahak Nersisyan and launched in 2019, was carried out with funds from the state budget and donations from benefactors. Over 275 million drams from the RA state budget have been allocated for the construction, renovation, and replenishment of the new building of the Hamazgayin Theatre, including 205 million drams for the acquisition of property and equipment and 70 million drams for construction works.

The theatre is equipped with a new stage, modern lighting and sound systems, necessary technical equipment and facilities, dressing rooms, and makeup rooms. The first floor houses a small stage for experimental performances, while the second floor has a large hall to accommodate over 230 spectators.

2026 marks the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin State Theatre. The theatre has not had its own building until now and has operated on the premises of Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema.

The opening of the new theatre building was marked by a performance of Maurice Maeterlinck's “The Miracle of Saint Anthony”.
