ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia Nikola Nikolov. Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming Ambassador Nikolov, Zhanna Andreasyan congratulated him on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia, wishing him fruitful work for the benefit of the further development of friendly relations between Armenia and Bulgaria. The Minister emphasized that the warm and partnership ties historically formed between the two countries serve as a strong basis for further expanding collaboration in the fields of education, science, culture, sport, and youth.

Touching on the prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of education, the ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of the continuity of the existing scholarship program, suggesting to consider the opportunities for developing inter-university cooperation, exchange of students and lecturers, and new joint educational and research programs. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on intensifying cooperation within the framework of the EU “Erasmus+” andHorizon Europe” programs.

During the meeting, reference was made to cultural cooperation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between the cultural institutions of both countries, the implementation of joint programs, as well as participation in bilateral festivals and international forums.

Addressing the expansion of cooperation in the field of sports, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan noted that Yerevan will host the European Senior Shooting Championship from February 27 to March 5, 2026, and that Bulgarian athletes are expected to take part.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia Nikola Nikolov expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated his willingness to advance bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and sport, underscoring the considerable potential for collaboration. Various other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
