ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan received today the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Armenia, Michael Mavros. Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.
The Minister welcomed the Ambassador and underscored the significance of advancing cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus in the areas of education, science, culture, sports, and youth. The parties placed special emphasis on strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation across various areas.
Zhanna Andreasyan presented to Ambassador Mavros the details of the event “Academic City of Armenia”: International Knowledge Forum, to be held in Yerevan on October 20-21.
Ambassador Mavros highly commended the potential for cooperation between Cyprus and Armenia, especially in the field of technological education. He highlighted the Cypriot side's interest in studying the Armenian experience in this direction.
Regarding the strengthening of educational cooperation, Ambassador Mavros stated that several universities in the Republic of Cyprus plan to offer scholarship programs for Armenian citizens in the 2026–2027 academic year. The scholarships will be awarded at the undergraduate level across academic fields.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, and archaeology, highlighting the considerable potential and shared interest.
Various other issues of bilateral interest were also addressed, aimed at expanding the scope of cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus.
