The 80th anniversary of the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport was celebrated with a solemn ceremony at the “Aram Khachaturia” concert hall.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, Rector of the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Tigran Simonyan, the teaching and academic staff of the Institute, students, representatives of the scientific, educational and cultural sectors, as well as international guests attended the event.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech, welcomed the attendees, and congratulated the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport on the 80th anniversary of its founding. As stated by the Prime Minister, the Institute's activities are closely linked to Armenia's glorious sporting successes, which are a source of pride for everyone.
“I wish to express my appreciation and respect to all the distinguished individuals whose contributions have ensured the glory of our sport, filling us all with pride and energy,” said the Prime Minister, expressing gratitude for the work carried out.
The Prime Minister underlined that the key to success in all fields, including physical culture and sport, is through education: “Unless we achieve significant success in the education sector, we cannot expect greater results in competitive arenas than we have today.”
Nikol Pashinyan also touched upon the provision of necessary sports infrastructure and the establishment of sports centres in the regions as part of the “300 Schools, 500 Kindergartens” program. He emphasized that in all newly constructed schools, priority is given not only to physical education halls but also to outdoor sports infrastructure, and joint work is being carried out with the private sector to establish sports centres in the regions.
Speeches were also delivered by RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and Rector of the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Tigran Simonyan.
The event featured a video on the University’s history and future vision, followed by the solemn ceremony of awarding the Orders of Honour.
