The school educational program “Generation AI”, jointly implemented by the RA ESCS Ministry and the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), will be amplified ahead of schedule to cover all regions.
Today, an official event dedicated to the expansion of the program took place, attended by the RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister Araksya Svajyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FAST Andre Andonian, FAST co-founder, scientist and businessman Noubar Afeyan, representatives of partner organizations, schoolchildren and teachers who are the beneficiaries of the program.
The event summarized the outcomes of the program’s second year, having been piloted in high schools in Armenia since 2023, as well as presented the main directions for its further expansion. Around 1,000 students from 26 schools in 19 cities throughout all regions of the Republic of Armenia have already been enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic year program, compared to more than 600 students from 15 schools in the 2024/2025 program. The “Generation AI” program is expected to encompass 45 schools in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Welcoming the attendees, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan congratulated on the expansion of the program, highlighting that it is available to a larger number of students from all regions of Armenia: “More than a thousand students are already beneficiaries of the program: this significant achievement has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of the FAST Foundation and the ESCS Ministry. It is essential that the ideas conceived at the design stage are brought to life in schools.”
Zhanna Andreasyan also extended her gratitude to school teachers for their collaboration and productive work, emphasizing that the program would not have been successful without their efforts. The ESCS Minister emphasized that one of the program's key achievements was the opportunity to share Armenia's experience on international platforms: “Having started with small steps, today we share our experience on various international platforms. This serves as evidence of an exemplary model of cooperation between the ESCS Ministry and FAST. The state should be open to bold and innovative ideas and transform them into part of systemic changes. Today we are jointly doing it.”
The ESCS Minister stated that technological education is becoming one of Armenia's visiting cards. At this point, she touched upon educational products that are recognizable and interchangeable for other countries.
“Next week we will discuss the “Academic City” program, which is another ambitious initiative on the path to a new level of quality and competitiveness in higher education and research. All of these works demonstrate our state's strong priority for technological education,” the Minister said.
As part of the event, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan also participated in a panel discussion entitled “AI Education and Innovation Pipeline: Perspectives for Progress.” She pointed out that systemic changes require consistent support: “Changes cannot happen automatically: they require careful planning and a properly prepared system. Therefore, teacher training and experience exchange are of great importance so that they can effectively implement new approaches to the teaching process.”
The ESCS Minister emphasized that accessibility is one of the most essential features of the joint program.
“We are responsible for all our children and are obliged to ensure that every child has a competitive education that will help them overcome their daily obstacles and find solutions to the challenges of the community and life,” underlined the Minister highlighting that the schoolchildren’s projects provide the strongest evidence of the “Generation AI” program’s success.
As part of the event, speeches were delivered by beneficiary schoolchildren. Reference was also made to the achievements of Armenian schoolchildren at the 2nd International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), held in Beijing, China, from August 2–9. Armenia was represented at the Olympiad by 11th-grade students of the “GenerationAI” program of the Vanadzor Special School with Advanced Study of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Aram Amirkhanyan, Seryozha Nazaryan, Vahe Pluzyan, and 11th-grade student of the “Generation AI” program of the Vanadzor Griboyedov High School No. 11, Davit Jaghatspanyan. The Armenian national team secured 16th place in the team competition, and Aram Amirkhanyan won a bronze medal in the individual competition. 284 students from 60 countries participated in the Olympiad.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Deputy Minister Araksya Svajyan also familiarized themselves with the project work of students of the “Generation AI” program and talked with the schoolchildren.
