ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia, Alexandra Cole.

ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan and Addeh Hovassapian, Country Director of the British Council Armenia, attended the meeting.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan extended her congratulations to Alexandra Cole on her appointment as Ambassador and wished her a fruitful term of work for the benefit of further advancement of Armenia-United Kingdom educational and cultural relations.

The Minister particularly emphasized the significance of the memorandum of understanding signed between the History Museum of Armenia and the British Museum as a precondition for enhancing intercultural collaboration. In this regard, the exhibition “Mother Deity: from Anahit to Mariam”, organized in collaboration with the British Museum at the History Museum of Armenia in 2024, was highlighted as an essential part of the cultural agenda of the dynamic and developing collaboration between Armenia and the United Kingdom.

Zhanna Andreasyan also underscored the significance of cooperation in strategically vital sectors, particularly regarding the active participation in the “Academic City” program, emphasizing that within the framework of the program, Armenia cooperates with leading universities in the UK, namely the University of the Arts London and the University College London, Institute of Education. Particular emphasis was placed on the British Council's assistance and role in the development of English teaching methodology in Armenia, as well as on teachers' ongoing professional development and training.

Newly appointed Ambassador Alexandra Cole expressed her gratitude for the reception and reaffirmed her commitment to further expanding cooperation in various areas.

The meeting addressed various issues of bilateral interest.
