RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on prospects for current joint programs and further cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the fields of education, science, culture, sports, and youth.
Welcoming the Ambassador, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan referred to the concert held by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra directed by world-renowned conductor Valery Gergiev as part of the 100th anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, highly appreciating the event as an exceptional cultural one. In this regard, the parties touched upon the program of events called “Armenian Culture Days in Russia” scheduled for the end of the year, highlighting the significance of fostering cultural ties in diverse fields. The Minister informed that targeted work is currently underway to boost museum life in the regions and, thus, increase the number of visitors. Reference was made to the organization of youth conferences between Armenia and Russia, highlighting the importance of fostering communication among young people.
The parties discussed the potential for fostering scientific collaboration through meetings between scientists and students/postgraduates.
Other issues of bilateral interest were also addressed at the meeting.
