The State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. The anniversary events were launched with an official ceremony of awarding diplomas to the graduates of the 2024–2025 academic year.

RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Rector of the Armenian State Academy of Fine Arts Vardan Azatyan, the teaching staff, graduates, and students attended the event.

Congratulating the Academy on the 80th anniversary of its founding, the Minister noted: “The Armenian State Academy of Fine Arts is one of the leading universities in the Republic of Armenia, providing an opportunity for gifted individuals to express themselves in the field of art. The path taken by the Academy enables us to see the development prospects of the university, based on the already established traditions, experience, and resources.”

Zhanna Andreasyan stated that creativity should be fostered in school, which is why the “Arts” subject was introduced within the framework of general education reforms. “Very often, art becomes the only language to talk about the most challenging topics, and today's graduates are the ones who master that language. By understanding that language, the discussion of societal issues also becomes a responsibility that pursues the search for solutions. I have no doubt that by graduating from the academy, graduates have acquired not only knowledge, but also gained values and attitudes that distinguish an artist in our society,” the Minister said, wishing the graduates will and determination in their future endeavours.

Zhanna Andreasyan expressed confidence that the university will gradually transform into a more competitive and high-quality research and educational environment, with new development prospects.

Rector of the Academy Vardan Azatyan, also congratulated the graduates and wished them success. Referring to the Academy's activities, he noted that the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia and the “Hosq” cultural hub will sign a memorandum of cooperation, which aims to unite education, art, innovation, and experimental creative processes.

As part of the event, an animated video, highlighting the activities of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, was presented.

More than 200 students were awarded diplomas, with special guests from the fields of culture and the arts in attendance.

As part of the anniversary celebration, the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia will also hold other events: exhibitions, conferences, and collaboration initiatives.
