RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, within the framework of her official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited the “Saadi” Foundation, where she met with the President of the Foundation, Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel.
ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan, Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of Brusov State University David Gyurjinyan, Director of the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran Ara Khzmalyan, and other members of the RA delegation also participated in the meeting.
Grateful for the reception, Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the significance of the multilateral cooperation between Armenia and Iran, built on friendly and historical-cultural foundations, emphasizing the need to further advance it, especially in the fields of education and culture.
In reference to the cooperation in the field of education, the Minister noted that the RA Government Program 2021-2026 attaches special attention to promoting the study of regional languages, including Persian. She informed that Persian language is currently being taught in 13 schools in Armenia.
The parties considered the opportunities of expanding and advancing the Persian language teaching in Armenia in the general and higher education systems.
As stated by Zhanna Andreasyan, Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, where the stored ancient manuscripts are a rich source of scientific research, can also serve as an important platform for teaching Persian and conducting research.
Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel welcomed the visit of the Armenian delegation and highlighted the historical ties and friendly relations between the two countries. He highly commended the RA Government's policy of teaching regional languages, noting that it is not only language education, but also fosters regional cultural understanding.
During the meeting, the possibilities of organizing online Persian courses, the prospects for introducing scholarship programs for teaching Persian in Iran, and issues related to the development of new educational materials and textbooks were also discussed.
The sides discussed various other issues of mutual interest.
