The Artists’ Union of Armenia hosted the opening of an exhibition entitled “Trace”, dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of Arkady Baghdasaryan (Arko).
RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan attended the exhibition.
Accompanied by President of the Artists' Union of Armenia Suren Safaryan, the Minister toured the exhibition, exploring around 50 works that trace the artist’s evolution from early creations to mature masterpieces. The collection, comprising portraits, collages, assemblages and sculptures, allows us to trace the development of Arkady Baghdasaryan's art in all its layers – from academicism to boundless freedom.
The “Trace” exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Arkady Baghdasaryan, a representative of Armenian abstractionism, provides an opportunity not only to admire his diverse works but also to redefine the artist's role in the history of contemporary art. It invites the viewer to reflect on the intricate relationship between art and life, memory, and legacy.
On the one hand, the exhibition reflects Arkady Baghdasaryan’s creative path as a cultural “trace” of a pioneer of abstract art, and on the other hand, it symbolizes the spiritual and creative heritage he passed on to future generations.
