The groundbreaking ceremony of Albert Azaryan Sports School took place today: the sports school is being built adjacent to the “Hrazdan” stadium.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan, President of the Gymnastics Federation of Armenia Gagik Vanoyan, Director of A. Azaryan Sports School Pavel Kartashyan, and athletes attended the event.
The Government has allocated AMD 6.9 billion for the construction of the sports school. The budget covers the design and construction of the new sports school, including architectural and technical supervision, sports equipment, interior finishes, and infrastructure design. The sports school will have a gym for special sports (rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics), a universal gym with a grandstand for 532 spectators, living rooms, locker rooms and bathrooms, administrative and office premises, parking for 88 cars, a technical room, warehouses and a workshop, a heating and ventilation system with settings for individual rooms.
The construction of the sports school is scheduled to be completed in November 2026.
The new sports school will become a modern training centre for around 300 teenagers and young athletes, designed to meet international standards. The complex will also be capable of hosting international tournaments, further enhancing Armenia’s standing and reputation in the world of gymnastics and sports.
The new complex will also host the European Gymnastics Championships 2027, which will be held in Armenia for the first time, with all necessary infrastructure in place.
