As part of the visit to Athens, the delegation led by ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan visited the Benaki Museum. Accompanied by the Academic Director of the Museum, George Manginis, the Minister toured the museum, got acquainted with the activities of the institution and the exclusive exhibition.
The Museum Director presented exhibits from ancient times, which also feature pottery exhibits of Armenian origin.
The possibility of cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia, in particular, organizing a joint exhibition, was discussed.
Next, the Armenian delegation visited the Laskaridis Foundation, where, accompanied by Director General Konstantinos Mazarakis, they got acquainted with the ancient Greek manuscripts stored there.
Presenting the activities of the ancient manuscript repository, the Director noted that the institution also preserves ancient Armenian manuscripts.
During the visit, the parties discussed the opportunities of advancing bilateral relations, strengthening inter-museum ties, in particular, active cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia and the Matenadaran named after M. Mashtots.
The delegation led by Zhanna Andreasyan also visited the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where they had a meeting with the University's Vice-Rector, Efstathios Efstathopoulos.
Expressing gratitude to the Minister for the visit, the vice-rector presented the University's activities, emphasizing that they are interested in cooperation with higher educational institutions in Armenia.
The ESCS Minister presented the ongoing reforms in the higher education and science system of the Republic of Armenia, particularly referring to the “Academic City” program. She emphasized that expanding international cooperation is a key priority in the development of the higher education and science system of Armenia.
Having familiarized herself with the educational programs of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Zhanna Andreasyan noted that similar faculties also operate at Yerevan State University. As emphasized by the parties, bilateral inter-university cooperation programs can be implemented, in particular, in theology, physical culture and sports, as well as in other fields.
The ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of strengthening partnerships within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ program, particularly through student and academic staff exchange programs and other joint initiatives.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is ranked among the top 200 universities in the world.
Note that the delegation, headed by ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, includes Advisor to the Minister Arman Andrikyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia David Poghosyan, Director of the Cinema Foundation of Armenia David Banuchyan, Director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia Norayr Nazaryan, and Director of the Cultural Development Foundation Karen Avetisyan. The delegation is accompanied by the RA Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan.
