RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the representatives of organizations operating in the fitness industry.

Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan and Head of the Division for Sport Policy Development and Analyses Artur Sedrakyan attended the meeting.

Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the attendees, stating that the meeting's objective is to discuss several issues related to the qualitative enhancement of the sector. The main subjects of the discussion covered the new regulations intended for private companies operating in the fitness sector by the recent amendment to the Law “On Physical Culture and Sport”: regulatory requirements for fitness centre operations, property standards, health supervision, trainer certification and more.

“The package of relevant amendments to the Law “On Physical Culture and Sport” has been approved, which provides for more regulated service provision in the fitness sector. These legislative changes were made following joint discussions with organizations operating in the field. In the preceding period, meetings were also held at the Ministry, and representatives of the sector raised a number of issues, in particular, related to the qualification and certification standards of trainers and, therefore, the quality of the services provided and supervision in the sector. All of these issues are very important for beneficiaries using the services in terms of creating a transparent and understandable field,” noted the Minister, emphasizing that the professional opinions and observations of companies operating in the sector are also important in the upcoming further regulations.

During the meeting, the Minister referred to the need for the state to establish the necessary regulations and criteria. She suggested the participants of the discussion to submit their opinions and observations to the ESCS Ministry, emphasizing that they will definitely be taken into consideration when planning the further process. It was noted that meetings in this format will be ongoing.
