Dear cinematographers,
I congratulate you on the Armenian Cinema Day.
This day presents an opportunity to reevaluate the path taken by Armenian cinema and to remember with gratitude all those who have contributed to its creation and preservation as a distinctive and significant aspect of our culture.
Cinema serves as a spiritual space where the inner world of an individual is reflected, narrating stories about love, homeland, and destinies in the language of the time. Armenian cinema is the reflection of our national identity and history, as well as a strong link connecting us with the world culture.
Most recently, in 2023, Armenian cinema celebrated its centennial, followed by the centennial of the renowned director Sergey Parajanov. 2025 can also be considered the year of Armenian cinema. It commemorates the anniversaries of celebrated filmmakers Henrik Malyan, Rosa Frangulyan, Harutyun Khachatryan, Atom Egoyan, and Robert Sahakyants.
Dear representatives of the sector, thanks to your devotion, Armenian cinema continues to develop and position itself on international film platforms, presenting itself to the film community. Preserving the image of Armenian cinema, you are steadily advancing in line with the requirements of the modern cinema world. Armenian cinema thrives thanks to you - the directors, screenwriters, actors, cameramen and other professionals, who carry out an important mission on and off-screen. The achievements are obvious and apparent: being shortlisted for the Oscars, victories at international animation, feature and documentary film festivals, and representation in film markets.
The advancement of the sector is also the result of consistent state policy and priority. The establishment of the Film Foundation, hosting film festivals in Armenia, signing bilateral cooperation memoranda with different countries, promoting joint film production, and introducing a cash rebate mechanism: all these steps aim to advance Armenian cinema and make Armenia an appealing and reliable partner for foreign filmmakers.
I wish you all new creative inspirations and victories, and cinemas full of moviegoers who love and appreciate cinema.
Happy Armenian Cinema Day!
