RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan watched the training session of the Armenian national football team today. The team is preparing for the upcoming match against the Georgian national team in the 2024/2025 UEFA Nations League play-off round.
The ESCS Minister wished good luck to the players in the upcoming match. She also had a conversation with the leadership of the Armenian Football Federation - FFA President Armen Melikbekyan and Vice President Armen Nikoghosyan, inquiring about the course of the team's preparatory training sessions and the atmosphere in the team. The ESCS Minister wished the Armenian national team success and expressed hope that playing on home soil and the support of the fans will help our team achieve the desired result.
FFA President Armen Melikbekyan noted that the team's mood is good, and all the players invited to the national team are ready. The President of the Federation also informed that Eduard Spertsyan, one of the leading players of the national team and the Russian “Krasnodar” football club, will be arriving in Armenia tomorrow to cheer on his teammates from the stadium despite missing the forthcoming match due to an injury.
At the meeting, the FFA President introduced the newly appointed head coach of the national team, John van’t Schip. The Armenian national team, under the guidance of the coach from the Netherlands, will play its first match on March 20, hosting the Georgian national team. The match will be held at the V. Sargsyan Republican Stadium and will kick off at 9:00 PM. The return match between the teams is scheduled for March 23 in Tbilisi.
