The ballet performance “The Dragonfly and the Ant” returned to the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre stage after a 30-year break.
In collaboration with the Opera and Yerevan State Choreographic College, the premiere of the ballet performance was held today, which was also attended by RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan.
Over 70 Choreographic College students take part in the performance. It was staged in 2 styles: modern dance (ants) and ballet (dragonflies, beetles, forest dwellers).
The ballet performance “The Dragonfly and the Ant” is the first premiere of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2025. This ballet performance, featuring incredible music by Stepan Lusikyan, was staged back in the 90s by renowned ballet master Maxim Martirosyan. 30 years later, at the initiative of Maestro Durgaryan, it has returned to the stage again, with a new lease of life.
“The Dragonfly and the Ant” is a children's ballet in 2 acts. Composer - Stepan Lusikyan, musical director and conductor - Karen Durgaryan (Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia), conductors - Atanes Arakelyan, Raffi Mikaelyan, choreographer and librettist - David Galstyan, set designer - Avetis Barseghyan (Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia), costume designer - Rubineh Hovhannisyan, lighting design - Yevgeny Ganzburg, 3D animation by Vahan Hovhannisyan.
