RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan chaired the first meeting of the jubilee commission commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. The Commission was formed pursuant to the RA Prime Minister's Decision No. 166-A dated February 28, 2025.
ESCS Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, Secretary General Hasmik Hakobyan, and commission members attended the meeting.
During the meeting, proposals on anniversary programs dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra were discussed. Of the 5 program projects and 1 branding package (logo) submitted to the ESCS Ministry, the commission must select and approve the ones that will be included in the list of anniversary events.
Greeting the attendees, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the significance of properly organizing and holding commemorative events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
"The organization of the jubilee honoring the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra requires a unique approach: I suggest considering the proposals of the administration of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra first," stated the Minister.
To review and discuss the programs, Zhanna Andreasyan suggested the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra Eduard Topchyan to present the content of the projects, and Director Norair Nazaryan to present the orientation and geography of the programs.
As part of the anniversary programs in Armenia, according to the proposals presented, joint concerts of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra and internationally renowned musicians and conductors are planned in Armenia, tours in European countries and the USA, and regions of Armenia are scheduled. Additionally, the orchestra's director stated that they want to create a video that highlights the orchestra's 100-year history and current activities.
The Minister specifically underlined the significance of decentralizing events including the organization of regional tours of the ANPO, as well as the participation of celebrated musicians from abroad in the events, and the promotion of Armenian musical art abroad. The importance of filming and broadcasting the anniversary concert and other key concert programs by Public Television was also highlighted to ensure the widest possible audience.
The director of the orchestra also presented the branding options for the anniversary, about which the members of the commission shared their comments and suggestions.
Following the review of the projects, the commission members also suggested considering the organization of an exhibition dedicated to ANPO in the lobby of the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall and a commemorative stamp redemption ceremony.
The Minister suggested at the end of the meeting that the commission members be given the submitted branding package and anniversary event proposals electronically for thorough consideration before selecting and approving them at the upcoming meeting.
