RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia John Gallagher.

ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan and British Council Armenia Director Addeh Hovassapian also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, the ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of productive collaboration with the Embassy and the Armenian Office of the British Council, expressing a commitment to ensure its continuity.

Referring to the cooperation in the field of education, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the significance of the role and support of the British Council in developing the methodology of teaching English in Armenia and the continuous professional development and training of teachers, the implementation of the “Creative Spark” program at universities, as well as expressed gratitude for the active involvement in the “Academic City” program. As part of the “Academic City” program, Armenia extensively collaborates with British universities, specifically the University of the Arts London and the Institute of Education at University College London.

The ESCS Minister also emphasized the significance of participating in the annual Education World Forum in London as a platform for learning about international experience in the field and presenting Armenia's achievements.

Regarding cultural collaboration, Zhanna Andreasyan particularly emphasized the importance of joint work on developing the 2023-2027 Strategy for the Preservation and Development of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, pointing out that the strategy approved by the Government is also available in English with the support of the British Council.

Citing the initiatives having already been implemented, the parties expressed their willingness to discuss new opportunities for joint initiatives in the field of culture, stressing that there is great potential for expanding cooperation in this area.

Zhanna Andreasyan further emphasized the significance of studying the British experience and the possibility of institutional cooperation, in this regard.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia John Gallagher thanked for the reception and highlighted the productive cooperation and positive progress with the RA Government, in particular, with the ESCS Ministry.

During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the possibilities of implementing joint programs and sharing experiences in various sectors in the context of expanding productive collaboration.
