RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the delegation headed by Minister of Culture of the Hellenic Republic Styliani (Lina) Mendoni.
ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan and Greek Ambassador to Armenia Christos Sofianopoulos attended the meeting.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the delegation, represented by Minister Styliani Mendoni, emphasizing the significance of Armenia-Greece cooperation in the field of culture.
“The friendly relations between Armenia and Greece have historical roots, and we are ready to strengthen ties, particularly in the field of culture, through the implementation of new joint programs,” said the ESCS Minister, expressing confidence that the Minister's visit will enhance cooperation between Armenia and Greece and facilitate new initiatives.
Thankful for the reception, the Greek Minister expressed hope that the first visit to Armenia will be fruitful in the context of strengthening cultural ties between the two states.
During the meeting, the parties considered the potential areas of cooperation, including the possibility of Armenia's participation in the Thessaloniki Fair, and the participation of Armenian and Greek filmmakers in film festivals of the two countries, etc.. The Ministers emphasized the significance of inter-museum cooperation between the two countries, specifically focusing on collaboration between the History Museum of Armenia and the Acropolis Museum in Athens, and the organization of an exhibition on Hellenistic culture as well as the possibility of organizing an exhibition dedicated to Ancient Greece in Armenia.
The discussion focused on the execution of cultural exchange programs, the organization of Culture Days, experience exchange in the field of cultural management, the organization of exhibitions, as well as joint film production, film festivals, and the sharing of experience in the preparation of UNESCO applications aimed at preserving cultural heritage.
The Minister of Culture of Greece has arrived in Yerevan to participate in the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Ancient Civilizations Forum. It is carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
