The National Gallery of Armenia is hosting an exhibition of works by Armenian-Greek artist Edouard Sacaillan from September 19 to 20.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the participants and noted that the unique exhibition of works by the artist from the Armenian Diaspora Edouard Sacaillan has an important function aimed at promoting the recognition of artists working in different parts of the world and their recognition in Armenia, which also creates a stable environment for constantly strengthening cooperation and interaction in the field of culture.

“The series of images and portraits created as a consequence of studying the themes of identity, culture of different nationalities and human experience are on display in Armenia for the first time. I think, in today's fast-paced world, when we have little time to focus on specific moments, events and feelings, such an exhibition gives us the opportunity to notice portraits and emotions from the plurality of faces, living and reliving them. The exhibition is also an opportunity for dialogue between ourselves and the portrayed images,” said ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan.

The exhibition featured unique portraits created by Edouard Sacaillan, called the “Audience”. People of various ethnicities, ages and genders are shown side by side in his vibrant paintings, gazing out at the public. The artist thus shows that anyone can embody the character portrayed in the painting.

It should be noted that Edouard Sacaillan was born in 1957 in Greece. The Armenian-rooted artist is renowned for his distinctive and unmatched style. Abstract, figurative elements, which are often combined in his works, are devoted to the study of identity, cultures of different nationalities and human themes.
