Within the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, technical assistance was provided to the project partner Stepanavan State Agricultural College.
A minibus was provided to the college to facilitate transportation for students from Stepanavan, Tashir, Alaverdi, and surrounding communities since the inadequate intercommunal public transport hinders youth participation in the college's educational process. In addition to the aforementioned, the college's partner private sector organizations are mostly located in the communities, especially in the Tashir region, and the vehicle will tackle student transportation issues.
Armenuhi Poghosyan, Head of the Department for Primary (Vocational) and Secondary Vocational Education at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, highlighted the importance of collaboration with the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and emphasized the MAVETA project’s role in advancing the dual education system in Armenia.
Welcoming the staff and students of the College, and private sector partners, the MAVETA project manager Lilit Hovhannisyan emphasized the project’s ongoing commitment to addressing institutional capacity development and the technical re-equipment of colleges, with the goal of making vocational education and agricultural professions more attractive to students.
The director of the college Ara Chobanyan along with private sector partners and students, also addressed the attendees at the event.
MAVETA project manager Lilit Hovhannisyan and Director of Stepanavan State Agricultural College Ara Chobanyan signed a handover/acceptance act, followed by the official transfer of the equipment.
