As part of the working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan visited the Technical and Bundeswehr Universities in Munich.

The delegation includes Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Sisak Gabrielyan and Chairman of the Higher Education and Science Committee Sargis Hayotsyan.

During the visit to higher education institutions in Germany, the Armenian delegation considered the potential collaboration within the framework of the academic city.

At the meeting with the Director of the Technical University of Munich Friederike Hettinger, and the Head of the Energy Research Project Robert Schmidt, the possibility of jointly developing the concept of the technological cluster of the Academic City project based on the structure and management model of the university was discussed, in particular. The ESCS Minister also suggested considering the possibilities of developing and implementing joint training and research programs with Armenian sectoral universities, along with short- and long-term joint inter-university projects.

The delegation, led by the ESCS Minister, also toured the Technical University of Munich, visited the technology center, studied the Munich experience of cooperation with business, as well as met with local Armenian students and got acquainted with their experience. The potential of engaging them in the “Academic City” program was also considered to share experiences with the students of RA universities.

At the meeting with Vice-President of the Bundeswehr University, Professor Karl-Heinz Renner, the Armenian side discussed the opportunity of jointly developing the concept of the military cluster of the Academic City project. The education programs and features of the Bundeswehr University were introduced to the RA ESCS Minister, after which a campus tour was organized.

According to Zhanna Andreasyan, this example and experience of integrating military and civilian education in the context of the implementation of the academic city project can be instructive. The sides also discussed the possibilities of personnel training, retraining, and the implementation of joint educational and research programs between Armenia and Germany.

Several other meetings are also scheduled as part of the ESCS Minister's visit to Germany.
