RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the Director of the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe (CREFECO) of the International Organization of Francophonie (L'OIF) Emmanuel Samson.

ESCS Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the significance of collaborating with the International Organization of La Francophonie, specifically, the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe, focused on teaching French and French language teachers’ training.

The International Organization of La Francophonie has entrusted Armenia with hosting the 10th International Sports and Cultural Games of La Francophonie, which, according to the Minister, is a significant and responsible commitment for Armenia.

“Along with organizing cultural and sports events for the International Francophonie Games, we must also significantly enhance the Francophone environment in our country,” stated Zhanna Andreasyan emphasizing the significance of collaborating with the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe to enhance the level of the French language in Armenia.

According to Zhanna Andreasyan, the number of educational institutions providing advanced training in French has increased, currently 18 schools are included in the program. In the context of enhancing collaboration, Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the importance of the French side's assistance in the development of textbooks and educational materials, especially with regard to the introduction of the new state standard of general education.

Thankful for the reception, Director of the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe (CREFECO) of the International Organization of La Francophonie (L'OIF) Emmanuel Samson emphasized the significance of Armenia's active participation in the International Organization of La Francophonie. According to him, Armenia has repeatedly demonstrated its adherence to the ideas and values of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

Emmanuel Sanson mentioned that CREFECO is willing to organize training sessions for French language teachers with the support of the International Organization of La Francophonie, and also to assist in developing educational resources. A reference was also made to organising the Francophonie summer camp in Armenia.

During the meeting, the parties considered various mutual issues, expressing willingness to enhance relations and implement other joint initiatives focused on promoting the French language.
