On March 21, the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the National hero of Armenia, Recipient of the Legion of Honor of France, world-renowned chansonnier, and public figure Charles Aznavour were officially launched at the residence of the President of the Republic.

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, high-ranking officials, deputies, and members of the Aznavour family attended the event.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan delivered a welcoming speech at the event:

Events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Armenian - Charles Aznavour, launch today. It is no coincidence that the launch was given from the residence of the President of the Republic since Aznavour was not only a devoted son of the Armenian people but also a great friend of the Republic of Armenia and the ambassador of our country.

Every Armenian in the world has his own Charles as his most beloved chansonnier, as a talented actor, as a composer, as the greatest philanthropist, and this list can be endless.

Aznavour's art is a never-ending universe of colours, sounds, and words. In this respect, it is impossible to evaluate Charles Aznavour's contribution, I dare say, to the treasure trove of global culture because, during his prolific career, he produced timeless masterpieces in every field he acted.”

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and Chairman of the Jubilee Commission for the 100th Anniversary of Charles Aznavour, Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized in his remarks that the influential Armenian has brought together everyone in France and Armenia: “Given his remarkable achievements, Aznavour has long been regarded as one of the most renowned artists in the world. It is no coincidence that in different years CNN and the Times declared Aznavour the "Entertainer of the Century", France proclaimed him the “Father of French Song", and UNESCO - a “Goodwill Ambassador”.

If we attempt to mentally follow our great compatriot's route, it can turn into a wonderful film - bright and full of love, humanity and hard work.

I am confident that his venerable image served as a role model for individuals worldwide aspiring to emulate the characters in Aznavour's songs or films.

For us, Armenians, he is also the best example of loving the Motherland and serving with dedication.”

Note that as part of the upcoming anniversary events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Aznavour, numerous events will be held in Armenia and abroad: concerts, film screenings, and exhibitions.
