RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the Director of the International Francophonie Games Committee Zeina Mina.

ESCS Deputy Ministers Karen Giloyan, Arthur Martirosyan and Daniel Danielyan also attended the meeting.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed Zeina Mina and emphasized the importance of the opportunity to discuss issues related to the application to host the Francophonie Games 2027 in Armenia.

“The French language and Francophonie values are one inseparable unity. The collaboration experience with the countries of La Francophonie, we have accumulated during the years of Armenia's chairmanship in the International Organization of la Francophonie, is also important for us. Every year, the International Day of Francophonie is celebrated with great solemnity in Armenia, and numerous activities are organized to advance Francophonie culture and values as well as language development. It's part of our life. The sense of belonging to a Francophone family and their values are close to our society even though not all of us speak the language. Considering this, the desire to host the Francophonie Games 2027 in Armenia is the next logical step for us,” noted Zhanna Andreasyan.

Zeina Mina expressed gratitude for Armenia's application to host the Francophonie Games 2027 and emphasized how remarkable is what she has recently witnessed in our country.

“I’ve managed to visit several sports and cultural institutions and the Public Television of Armenia. Indeed, you have a fairly developed infrastructure, and I can already state that you are almost completely ready to host the games. You have already submitted a rather serious and impressive application. Being in Armenia and seeing the attitude of the RA Government, we are more than confident that you can hold the 10th anniversary Games at the highest level,” noted the Director of the International Francophonie Games Committee Zeina Mina.

The Director of the International Francophonie Games Committee emphasized that the willingness to host the Games 2027 is a logical continuation of the policy of the RA Government regarding the strategic development of culture and sports.

During the meeting, the sides considered many issues related to Armenia's application to hold the Francophonie Games in Armenia.

The members of the delegation presented their observations and suggestions regarding the venues of the Games and their conditions.

Director of the International Francophonie Games Committee Zeina Mina also highlighted the significance of interest towards the French language in Armenia. Minister Zhanna Andreasyan expressed confidence that the possibility of holding the Francophonie Games 2027 in Armenia will significantly increase the number of French-speaking people in our society.

Note that at the conference, scheduled on December 14 in Paris, the final applications of the countries having expressed their willingness to host the Francophonie Games 2027 will be officially considered, after which the International Committee of Francophonie Games will determine the venue of the games.
