Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Armenia Fabio Vaz Pitaluga.

RA ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.

The Minister welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment, wishing fruitful work for the benefit of the development of Armenian-Brazilian friendly relations.

During the meeting, the sides discussed various issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and sports.

Regarding the expansion of cooperation in the above-mentioned areas, the Minister said that memoranda of cooperation in the fields of higher education, sports and physical education are being considered between the corresponding departments of the two countries.

Zhanna Andreasyan expressed hope that the activities on advancing and strengthening the Armenian-Brazilian cooperation will be more efficient.

Ambassador Fabio Vaz Pitaluga thanked the Minister for the reception and stressed that there is great potential for close cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, culture and sports. The Ambassador presented the directions and programs of possible cooperation in the context of educational exchanges, teaching Brazilian Portuguese in universities, and implementation of measures aimed at strengthening Armenian-Brazilian cultural ties.

During the meeting, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan also drew the Ambassador's attention to the issue of preserving the Armenian historical and cultural heritage in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
