The Government of Japan, within the framework of the "Grassroots" (GGP) Human Security Projects, approved the "Project to Provide the Kindergartens and Schools in Shirak Region with Educational Equipment" in the amount of USD 95.202.

The objective of the program is to promote the creation of a positive learning and development environment for children by providing educational equipment to 5 schools and 5 kindergartens in the Shirak region. As a result, about 3,000 children will annually benefit from the program.

In this regard, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Fukushima Masanori and Chairman of the “National Union for Parent Councils of Schools” Arsen Papoyan signed a grant agreement on the “Project of Providing Kindergartens and Schools of Shirak Region with Educational Equipment” at the MoESCS.

ESCS Deputy Minister Zhanna Andreasyan delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony. The Deputy Minister thanked the Government of Japan for its constant support and efforts. She noted that the Armenian Government, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the quality of education, is now at an active stage of reforms and has set definite goals.

“This initiative of the Government of Japan supports the policy of the RA Government to create enabling environment in the educational system, the beneficiaries of which in this case are our children of the Shirak region,” added Zhanna Andreasyan.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Fukushima Masanori expressed confidence on behalf of the Government of Japan that the new generation has great potential and good conditions should be created for it: “We are hopeful that this program will contribute to improving the quality of education and the well-being of children in the region.”

The representatives of the “National Union for Parent Councils of Schools” also emphasized the importance of the program and thanked for the support.
