The Northern Eurasia regional stage of the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest has been summed up at YSU. Three YSU teams registered impressive results and were awarded second-class diplomas.
ESCS Minister Vahram Dumanyan participated in the conclusion of the competition. He expressed satisfaction that the years of hard work paid off․ According to him, this year the YSU teams not only competed with the teams of other universities but also with each other, as both teams had high chances to get to the finals: “As the Armenian Regional Director of the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest since 2001, I would like to express my gratitude to YSU Rector Mr. Hovhannisyan, “CodeSignal” Company and the coaches. My congratulations to all of us: you know, this is a very serious achievement, and our goal is for the RA universities to compete with the leading universities of the world.”
Rector of the YSU Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, in his turn, noted that the result achieved by the “Yerevan SU-2813” team is the 10th among all the participants of the Olympiad, and the members of the team were awarded bronze medals.
“This achievement is the result of consistent and painstaking work, for which I want to thank the ESCS Minister and the Armenian Regional Director of the Competition Vahram Dumanyan, who made a great contribution to the participation of Armenian teams in the competition and their achievements,” underlined the Rector, expressing his gratitude to the team coaches Armen Andreasyan and Albert Sahakyan, students and people who contributed to achieving this success.
According to the Director of Engineering of the “CodeSignal” company Eduard Piliposyan, the company actively supports the Olympic movement.
“It was important for us to achieve higher results, and now we have the best result ever gained,” emphasized he, adding that the Company has prepared special prizes for the first 5 teams.
“Our best team is in the 10th place and is awarded bronze medals. The list of 10 teams that won a ticket to the Finals has also been published. The YSU team is the 8th on the list. The three of our teams that solved 6 or 7 tasks were awarded a 2nd-degree diploma. The four of our teams that solved 4-5 tasks, received a 3rd degree – diploma,” noted the assistant of the Chair of Programming and Information Technologies of YSU Armen Andreasyan, assuring that next year one of the university teams will reach the finals once again.
Member of the “Yerevan SU-2813” team Vahagn Altunyan, studies at the Faculty of IAM of YSU. He is happy to note that his team will take part in the Final: “We are very determined since such a result was unprecedented among the Armenian teams in the semifinals. We wish to repeat our result in the Final to set new records.”
Note that the final of the competition will be held in Egypt in 2023.
