RA ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan participated today in the scientific Conference “Armenia-China” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the People's Republic of China.

Diplomats, politicians, scientists, and other officials participated in the event. The objective of the Conference is to develop certain proposals for the advancement of bilateral relations.

Welcoming the participants of the conference, ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan considered it remarkable that the organization of the Conference marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Even though the diplomatic relations between our two countries are of three decades old, the Armenian-Chinese cultural ties have a history of thousands of years. The development of traditionally friendly relations with the People's Republic of China is one of the most important directions of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as an important and significant event, once again certifies our close and efficient collaboration,” noted Arthur Martirosyan.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister presented a wide range of existing programs of Armenian-Chinese cooperation, which includes student exchange programs, cooperation programs in educational, scientific-technical fields, the opening of Confucius Institute and the school of Armenian-Chinese Friendship in Yerevan, staff training programs and the organization of joint cultural and educational events. According to him, Armenian citizens have the opportunity to get higher education at the top universities in China and use the acquired knowledge and skills to advance the economy of Armenia.

Arthur Martirosyan stated that various events and programs promote, confirm and strengthen the ties between the two friendly countries. One of them was the holding of the Chinese Culture Days in 2019, which became an important and significant event in the cultural life of Armenia According to the Deputy Minister, Armenia and China have also started cooperation in the field of translation and publication: it will contribute to the recognition of the culture of the two countries also in the field of literature.

The ESCS Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the Armenian-Chinese cooperation will continue to advance thanks to the development of existing programs and the implementation of new initiatives.

The participants of the event were also greeted by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Fan Yong, Director of the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research Mher Sahakyan and others.

It should be noted that the conference was organized by the China-Armenia Council for Political and Strategic Research and the Institute of World Socialism of the Renmin University of China with the assistance of the Chinese Embassy in Armenia.
