The official opening ceremony of the 160th anniversary season of the Gyumri V. Adjemyan State Drama Theatre was held with the support of the ESCS Ministry.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, Governor of Shirak region Davit Arushanyan, and Deputy ESCS Minister Daniel Danielyan attended the event.
Congratulating the Adjemyan people on the occasion of the theatre’s 160th anniversary, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan noted: “I am confident that the theatre will continue its remarkable history, which has brought us all together here today, for many upcoming decades. The 160-year history has been shaped by many renowned artists who remain an essential part of this theatre, and today we would like to express our special gratitude and pay our tribute to all of them.
Gyumri Theatre is one of our most dynamically developing theaters, and it is particularly important that its performances attract not only the residents of Gyumri, but also audiences from diverse communities across the country. This means that the theatre’s performances have long transcended the walls of this hall, becoming beloved and eagerly anticipated by the general public.
We will go on supporting the theatre, and our commitment goes beyond simply creating new performances and assisting tours. I am pleased to announce that this year, with the state support, the Gyumri Theatre will have a completely new lighting and sound system, which will open up new opportunities for the development of the theatre.”
In recognition of their years of dedicated work, the Minister presented awards to a number of theatre representatives. Accordingly, on the occasion of Independence Day, actors of the Gyumri V. Adjemyan State Drama Theatre Samvel Grigoryan and Nara Santoyan were awarded the RA Prime Minister’s Commemorative Medal for their significant achievements and long-standing dedication to arts.
Actors Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Hasmik Virabyan, and Arsen Saghatelyan were presented with ESCS medals, while several other theatre representatives received certificates of honor and letters of appreciation.
On the occasion of the theatre’s anniversary, costumes and archival photographs from its most prominent performances over the years were displayed in the foyer, alongside the presentation of the photo album “60 Moments”. The “Artistic Concert” show program was held in the theatre's main hall, with the participation of the “Folkastic” band and theatre artists.
