The Armenian National Agrarian University celebrates its 95th anniversary. ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, Chairman of the Higher Education and Science Committee Sargis Hayotsyan, and other officials in the field attended the jubilee event held at the University on this occasion.
Extending her congratulations to the University’s teaching staff and students, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that the anniversary is significant not only for the University, but also for the state.
“Agricultural education and the training of professional specialists are of strategic significance for ensuring our country’s security. In this sense, we all need to reflect on the path taken by the Agrarian University and talk about future actions that should herald a new day in agrarian education. Education in this field must continue to contribute to public and economic advancement, serving the needs of the state,” Zhanna Andreasyan said.
Highlighting the significance of increasing the quality and competitiveness of education, she emphasized the state programs implemented at the university to promote the sector, particularly, the introduction of high scholarships for individuals receiving education in priority areas. Zhanna Andreasyan also referred to the new Law “On Higher Education and Science”, which, she noted, aims to introduce new quality requirements and outline the paths to be taken to tackle the issues.
“I am confident that the 95-year-old University has the potential and courage to confront reality and find solutions to improve competitiveness and strengthen quality. The state will stand with the University in this endeavor. Agricultural education is one of the state's key priorities, and we are making significant efforts to achieve the desired quality. We have already made substantial progress under the “Academic City” program, where the agrarian sector is also a priority,” concluded the Minister.
As part of the event, the ESCS Ministry presented commemorative medals to a number of individuals for their long-term service in the field of higher education and science, their contribution to the University’s advancement, and in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the National Agrarian University of Armenia: Member of the University Board of Trustees, founder and director of the Armenian Institute for Digital Agriculture, former rector Vartan Urutunyan, Head of the “H. Petrosyan Scientific Center for Soil Science, Melioration and Agrochemistry”, Branch of Armenian National Agrarian University Aleksandr Gevorgyan, Head of the Food Safety and Biotechnology, Animal Origin Raw Material and Product Processing divisions of the Scientific Research Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology Astghik Pepoyan. Other employees were also awarded certificates of appreciation.
