A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the “Izmirlian” Foundation within the framework of the “Armenian for Non-Armenian Speakers: Teaching, Testing and Assessing Armenian Language Proficiency" and “Armenian as a Viable Language in the Technological World” programs.

The memorandum was signed by ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Director of the “Izmirlian” Foundation Armen Chobanyan. ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan, Chair of the Language Committee Siranush Dvoyan, and Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan attended the event.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her gratitude for consolidating the efforts for the significant collaboration. “We have launched a very important program through a state-private partnership, where expert potential has also been consolidated, attracting the best professional resources. This means that language advancement is on the state and public agenda, and we will soon hold discussions on the development of a state language policy concept,” Minister Zhanna Andreasyan said, emphasizing the significance of launching the process.

In turn, Director of the “Izmirlian” Foundation, Armen Chobanyan, highlighted the importance of the cooperation and reiterated his commitment to ensuring its continuity.

As part of the “Armenian for Non-Armenian Speakers: Teaching, Testing and Assessing Armenian Language” and “Armenian as a Viable Language in the Technological World” programs, an agreement was also signed between the Language Committee, the “Izmirlian” Foundation and Yerevan State University.

The sides emphasized the importance of the institutional changes deriving from the launch of the process, underlining that the cooperation also aims to promote the development of Armenian as a state language.
