The delegation led by the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from September 6-8.
As part of the visit, the ESCS Minister had a meeting with the Governor-General of Fars province, Hossein-Ali Amiri, in the Iranian city of Shiraz.
ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan, along with Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan, also participated in the meeting
The Minister thanked the Governor-General for the warm welcome and productive cooperation, highlighting the special significance of the historically friendly relations between Armenia and Iran.
Zhanna Andreasyan expressed confidence that the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his delegation to Armenia will further contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations and the advancement of cooperation.
The meeting highlighted the concert scheduled for today at the Persepolis complex, commemorating the centenary of the establishment of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the event holds exceptional significance not only in terms of promoting Armenia's cultural legacy, but also in terms of advancing Armenia-Iran friendly relations. She thanked the Governor of Fars for his assistance in facilitating the high-level organization of the concert.
“Holding cultural events at such distinguished venues carries symbolic and profound cultural significance,” Zhanna Andreasyan noted.
She also emphasized that Armenia-Iran relations have a centuries-old history, and the Fars province, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, can serve as a unique bridge between the two peoples.
Zhanna Andreasyan also emphasized the importance of the role of the Armenian community of Iran, stressing that it is one of the oldest and most integrated communities in the country. In the context of enhancing bilateral ties between Armenia and Iran, the productive work and significant role of the ambassadors accredited to both countries were also highlighted.
Zhanna Andreasyan also stressed the importance of inter-regional cooperation, emphasizing that one of the cities of Armenia is planned to be declared as a sister city of Shiraz in the near future.
The Governor-General of Fars province Hossein-Ali Amiri highly commended the visit of the ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, stressing that Armenia is a strategic partner and a friendly country for Iran. He emphasized that the historical and cultural ties between the two countries oblige them to continuously strengthen and advance cooperation.
The Governor-General particularly underlined the significance of the concert scheduled to take place at Persepolis, emphasizing that it is a unique opportunity that attests to the cultural enrichment of the two peoples and will contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
“Music is the language of the heart, and it is encouraging that these ties are further strengthened through music,” noted the Governor.
In conclusion, Hossein Ali Amiri reiterated Fars Province’s willingness to facilitate the strengthening of Armenia–Iran relations, particularly in the areas of cultural and inter-provincial cooperation.
During the meeting, the opportunities for holding new cultural programs and events in Fars Province, which will contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Armenia and Iran, including joint exhibitions, historical and cultural thematic initiatives, and concert programs, were also considered.
